View Full Version : A few PCI soundcards

I need a few PCI soundcards to stick into the one rig; 4 at least. They don't have to be anything special, just gotta have Line In inputs and semi-decent recording quality (44100hz'll cut it.) and work with Windows XP. Even just point out a cheap retail soundcard and I'll be happy.

If you have a few just lying around that you're willing to part with, gimme a bell. Ultimately I don't want to be paying a whole lot for this as it's more a hobby/interest thing than it is a professional thing.

I know I really should be asking Moo :p, but thanks in advance for your help.

Im assuming you want multiple sound cards so you can record a heap of things at once. Maybe look at one of those behringer mini mixers, they can be picked up cheap and there good quality.

As far as sounds cards well if you don't mind stuffing around with custom drivers and shit, an audigy/audigy2 can do 44100 recording.

more info about creative card recording at:

Otherwise stay away from creative since they have a habit of doing nasty resampling to 48000hz.

Also have a look at chaintech av-710, and if you like it i'll buy two (one for myself) to save on shipping (there 30-50% cheaper or so if you buy em from USA). Im not sure about there recording abilities other than since its an envy24-ht based card it should be ok and for playback the stereo high quality mode is meant shit all over an audigy2 and there only about $50-$70 from USA shipped NEW

The project is just to get crappy rough sound from several channels, I don't really care for high-quality stuff at this stage.

ah ok....still might be cheaper to find a cheap mixer from somehwere and then you only need to round up one sound card... otherwise cheap and nasty sound cards can be found on ebay for $10 each or so, though for creative you need at least PCI512 or at least a live to use Kx drivers (which are heaps better for recording)

I'm looking for after-performance mixing though.

ahh i see, so you wanna record live, that could be interesting since you gotta have enough power to record 4 streams at once......good luck

As I said, they don't have to be high-quality. :p Just something that I can record and listen to how we (http://www.avatar-band.tk/) sound later.
