You guys know I never ask for anything ('cept maybe a bit of hot loving from spot) but now I'm going to.
I finally have a webcomic. I think I might have metioned it last lanx. I know it's pretty crap, and only 6 comics so far, but it's still being worked on and has enough material and jokes to last for a while.
It's called God School, and it works on the idea of "What if most of the gods from normal religions and mythology were all going to the same school?"
We've got a forum set up, but it needs members to sign up. So you guys can guess what I'm asking ;)

(the site's being constantly worked on, so it might change a bit)

Griph, welcome to the world of webcomickry. Reel in shock as your noob fans tell you their true innermost thoughts in 6 words, and tear you apart with their correction emails.
With that said, I reckon you should realise that some people don't go webcomicking simply to see the comics - often there's a rant column or bizarre linkage or similar other features on the site that attract Joe Average Reader. Simply put, where's the rant columns?:D Or maybe I'm too old-fashioned.
More thoughts that I have are, FORGET YOU EVER KNEW JPEG AS OF NOW. If you're using cel-shading (and you are), you probably want to be optimising your color palette and exporting to GIF or PNG; reason being that the file size is incredibly smaller. I managed to take your last comic down to under 100KB using GIF 32-color 100%dither - which is 33% of the original, with a little quality lost in the background gradients. (also, if you can avoid background gradients, you could optimise further - ignoring the background gradients, I got a 50kb 14-color GIF out of the picture, with a couple of colors slightly off. Palette is an important word.)
I know I'm probably ranting, but it's just a few tips you probably want to have a think about (after all, 300k is a lot on dialup... and it's a lot on most of the currently-fucked ADSL connections too).
PS. Avoid obvious cut and paste.

k joshu, i've been told to move to png, but apparently some browsers don't like it.

Well text-only browsers don't like it :p as well as most older browsers.
The newest generation of browsers (Mozilla / IE / Opera) can all handle PNG, although I think IE5 had issues with it? IE6 won't display your alpha transparencies though.
Gamma Correction (http://www.libpng.org/pub/png/pngintro.html#gamma) is probably why you'll want to use PNG over GIF - the image gamma becomes universal, whether on Mac, PC, or whatever else you may use.

plus, png's are supposed to have better compression than gifs
and as for non-up-to-date browsers, i say fuck em :) add some browser detection to your page and call old browser users noobs

yeah a good rule of thumb is 'mostly large blocks/strips of flat color use gif/png / mostly photo like with lots of random colors next to each other use jpg'
