View Full Version : solve one problem to make another.
new case, internal cooling, refridgerated everything, in a nice sized case... surely easier to move than my old one......
WRONG!
this cunts so heavy I can barely lift it let alone carry it....
and the thing wasn't even filled with water or piped when I felt the weight today...
and atm it takes 5x power leads to power it :D
all in a CM stacker :)
atleast its portable, unlock the wheels and put it on a ramp and I garentee ya the fucker would move!
Sounds like a fridge that plays games :)

If it won't keep your beer cold cvt, I'm disappointed.
joshu..
I have 1 front slot left unused if I throw away the power button and shit (and put a power button on the back, I donlt ever turn off so I dun give two shits about it) so was actually thinking about something along them lines, having a chilled cup holder...
but as for at the moment and xvz2, it won't keep my beer cold, but if I put then under the case, it will keep it warm!
Sounds like a fridge that plays games
listen to the man....
fridge
here that?

i wanted to put one in my machine, and it would double as a cooling system, i looked on ebay and shit for one of em, i couldnt find a good one under US$400...

Tried before, and it doesn't work.
sorry to break your dreams and fanasies, but if you wish to prove me wrong I'll be the one with the last laugh when you walk into a room full of blue smoke and a cooked computer :)

Oh no!?#$?!@ Who let the magic blue smoke out of my CPUs? :(
it doesn;t come from the cpu... keep guessing.
the smoke from silicone is not this colour.

maybe hes on about the smoke that comes from the back tyers of my mates v8? that smoke it blue!!
why must I always be the only one with intelligence in these forums.....
I must drink more!
.
now I really want one of you to build a barfridge cooler pc, then you'll see where the smoke comes from!
it lasts about 1 or 2 weeks before you worry turning on the disco lights.
so you've done this before then?
bring your research to XvZ.... i got a mobo here ill use for it
as for fridge.... anyone wanna donate $ to a nerd cause?

does that not support my comment? :P
Yes Moo, I tried this years and years ago.
its a fuckin kick arse idea.
and I overcame all the obstacles (mainly condensation and frost,
remember, turn off computer, pull out power, and wait HOURS before turning on again..
but the bad part is the compressors in fridges are only designed to run short times in intervals, running non stop (as they do) in this situation, after 2 weeks of on/off usage (yes, I was turning it off) the compressor cooked.
computer lived.
I then did some searching around and everyone who's tried it have had the exact same results.
so best not, cos that cooked compressor smell hangs for weeks!
PLUS!, you lose a previously good beer-cooler.

And cvt, it's good that you ended up sharing your invaluable experience in the true leet white hat hacker spirit !

lol DW Andy,
my rigs a bastard to lug aswell. Its in an older steal SOHO server tower i cut up i even shaved some steal off the frame with an angle grinder to lighten it up.
it weighs in over 30Kg then i gotta carry the actual PC which comes in around 40Kg.
So ill make you a deal ill help you carry your rig in and you help me carry mine in! :D
I think i gotta find a way to make it internal but its gonna be hard to find a place for the 6Lt ressy in a case nowadays spech when there all fucking aluminium.
Got any suggestions? i hate aluminium cause you cant weld it and so on as easy as steal. Ill prob. catch up with you on MSN later bout it.
radass,
"true leet white hat hacker spirit"
I like it :p
and it is VERY valuable to someone who planned on doing it!
nondairy
Aluminuims too weak, don;t even consider it, would be way to flimsy and shit for what you wanna do.
as for cutting some stuff out... not suck a great idea unless its non-structual, depends how much weight is where.. but I think I'll be adding a support to mine to stop the base from bowing :)
weights just a downside ya live with when yer a engineer(idiot)/idiot(hobbiest)
you really don;t need 6 liters man, at that and with a 80w tec (as you had) you wouldn;t even need a radiator.
My test stage is now at NB, CPU, @ 3.6 1.625v and the water with my 8 liters is still barely warming, no radiator or anything.
a better option is instead of using plastic ressy, use aluminium.
the extra heat loss thru the surface will surprise you !
.
and thats just common sence (which most PC people (contridary to what eoin said) are fuckwits when it comes to cooling)
for egsample (and if you take offence, then it was aimed at you)
*my cpu's at 87C. .... .. argh, AMD/P4 suck.
the fact, there a fuckwit
*my cpu's 24C, mobo temp 20C, P4/AMD rock, this cooler rocks.
the fact, there a fuckwit
if you actually thought the mobo temp sensor is even SLIGHTLY accurate... your a fuckwit.
HSF temperature is NOT cpu temperature.. if you thought it was... your a fuckit..
I think I just threw my "white hat" away :(
.
oh, I just wanted to continue my fuckwit list... but I think I've offended enough fuckwits for now, and will continue after a cool off period.
.
ok, maybe I was a bit harsh.... uneducated fuckwit... or maybe miseducated.. or just uneducated...
I had a fuckin cunt of a day at work.. live with my anger aight!

lol i was baggin out alluminium in my post aswell!:D
i know alluminum is a away better of conducter of heat than PVC (lol who doesnt?) but ATM i cant be fucked to make a ressy out of it becasue im just to lazy and cant be fucked doing some more welding and such (thast for later)
ive got the 6lt ressy just for the pure fact that i had space for it:D and thought that it will help a little with the radiator being a bit smaller than most (150mm) im not useing that shit 80watt TEC any more ive moved on up to that 172watt after your suggestions ;)
And come on who ever thought that HSF was for the CPU? thast why they sell the little temp meters on the webbys and such.
i miss my 172 watt power supply
*sniff* *sniff*
such a freaky looking thing it was
hey man, I was just in a mood for some bitching.
just buy a metal box from jaycar ;)
another way of looking at it man.
look at how well a aluminium heatsink works on a 80W CPU (you stock cooler on a P4 3.0)
and how little surface area there is total, and how far the heat haves to travel along it, and how well it cools.
so you put that on a box, the same or more surface area, plus a radiator.
bargain ;)
if you are in a sealed 6L ressy, after the system stabilises in temperature, the only heat emitted is thru the PVC and radiator, just it takes longer to warm up due to more volume.
and cools slightly better because you have more PVC surface area.
so if you noticed a temp difference from sealed 2L to sealed 6L, imagine if that was a metal box!
afterall, its already that heavy, whats an extra 1kg ? :P
good to see u gone up to the 172, so the 80 going on the GPU or northbridge?
or you gonna OC that 4x86? :)
*NoN*Da]rY*
09-09-2004, 11:27 AM
well you know me,
Im gonna fry that 4x86 like its a pancake and if the TEC lives then it will go onto the northbridge. :D
just for curiosity man, put the TEC upside down, and then to make things better, watercool the cold side (on top now) with boiling water.
wonder just how well a little 4x86 would run at 150C ? :D
