Hmm ,

So there's plenty of people around that do martial arts.. cool.. like them myself.

So what do you all reckon is the best martial art. By best i mean most effective. Like capoeira is cool looking, but effective against.. say kung fu ?.. maybe.. prolly not.. or if your gay and french you could do savate.. lol.

Anyway.. i guess a lot of you would say : Kyokushin Karate (not looking at anyone in particular *cough*)

I've had experienece in Zen Do Kai, and Sho Shin Do.. hey.. stop laughing.. there.. not .. *THAT* bad (good for the exercise at the very least... and how many fat guys do you know who can crescent/roundhouse above their head.. .yeah.. i thought so!)

.. :D.. at least i managed to own a TKD student in the centre state games a few years ago.

Anyway... enough of that..

Best martial art people.. and why...

And NO.. miyagi-do karate does not count (goddamn karate kid).

:woot

If you like being able to beat up people (and who doesn't?) and generally making yourself better in every way, Kyokushin is the best.

No question

yeah as far as karate goes kyokushin is by far the best.
it was revolutionary because of its full contact fighting.
there aren't many martial arts that do it.
and plus all kyokushin tournaments are open to any martial art,
just recently the K-1 in japan invited 7 kyokushin fighters to take on their top guys.
there was 3 fights under kyokushin rules (no head punches, punches to body, knee and kick to head body and legs, no padding at all and no grabbing)
and 4 under K-1 rules (boxing gloves same as kyokushin but punches to the head are allowed and grabbing with one arm is allowed)

and the result:

kyokushin - 7
K-1 - 0

got to K-1 bows to Kyokushin (http://www.k-1usa.net/docs/news/news.asp?news_id=40531) if you don't believe me.

I'm impressed... Woot.. K-1 needs to lift their game now.

So how hard's Kyokushin on a noob ?. Might give it a bash when i can back down to 'rat.

It's easy but challenging for noobs but it requires a fair bit of dedication to progress
