hey this is mainly directed at the coding types

yeah i was just wondering if anyone had any book on mainly php and mysql but anything else would be good too (mainly web design stuff) like an idea book or graphic design books

because i have e-book on the subject and i wanna learn to code but i dont really like the idea of reading like a couple of hundred pages off my screen or having to print them

so if anyone can help it would be appreciated

cheers

I picked up this book from Big W a while back for $20 - it's called PHP Developer's Guide - it's not bad. Hunt around the book shops for ones that take your fancy.

You could always print the free PHP manual if you're low on cash. It'd be pretty thick, so rip off your school or workplace :P

''yeah i was just wondering if anyone had any book on''
..Id hate to speak Shirtoby..but i think he WANTS A BOOK/S..
Not web pages or to print off web pages.
eg '' ...idea of reading like a couple of hundred pages off my screen or having to print them..''

Am i the only one reading what he said correctly..or am i the only one wrong?

But - why buy a book when there's lots of info on the internet?

Shirtboy, I'd go knocking at your network administrator's office, they might have a book with PHP. If not - the Ballarat Library's a good choice.

Hahaha, you could always learn on the fly - figure out what you wanna do, then do it ;)

I'd be glad to help ya, if you want. (it's pretty simple)

nononono, i said html was the biggest tutorial and its 20 pages max, php is below 10 and if you dont want to read it from a pc print it, its not 100 pages its less than 10

What you need is 2 screens do you can have docs on one and code on the other :D But as Joshu said, the library is probably a good place to check out, that's how i got start all those years ago (omg about 14 years  )

Course back then i was reading about C64 graphics coding (good old peek and poke!) and COBOL :P So you've got it easy :D

P.S the most up to date info is always on the net rather than on your shelf - except for highly sprecialised stuff which doesn't get written about much for free. I very rarely use any of the books i have .. last time i think was when i was working out stuff for the lan nazi, but that stuff would have been online somewhere too

Dave's spot on (as usual) - having two monitors is the bomb at times. :D

Another alternative to reading books / webpages to learn PHP, is to take a look at some free small PHP scripts and figure out how they work.

Yet ANOTHER alternative - take a class in PHP, whether by correspondence(sp?) or by going to a place that teaches it (tho I dunno if there are any places in Ballarat that teach it).
