naa its not to bad.... me and my friend played it.. and there was a few bugs but its earlie days and it can only get better.... hape to have a game with more then 2 people at the lan who ever is keen then say YES!!!

the ozunreal community, of which kenny and myself have been parts of for ages (going on 3 years for me) is predominantly over trying to keep ut2k3 alive.

there are too many other games out there that appeal to more people

ill play some ut2k3 with peeps tho, i just dont think its worth having a comp. unless we get a big turnout

a few of the guys off the board are going to koreo for wcg

and i find the best fun playing with clanmates in ut1, cause public games are just so annoying.

i used to love that

me and the AU and heaps of other old school uters used to play that into the wee hours of the morning

Ya know, part of the problem for the UT comp is that it's at the end of the lan when everybody has left.
For the next lan you should slot UT in before the Quake comp, or even better, OVER the Quake comp.

To be quite honest... UT's better for me than UT2k3 is. More sheer gameplay... and the sniper rifle is better (better ROF, no crappy animation of "lightning" :/ , can be used efficiently while zoomed out.)

the shock rifle in the hands of a skilled player is by far the most damaging weapon in ut. that may not be so with ut2k3, but it hasnt lost any of its appeal.

i actually look forward to some sort of UTage at the next lan, should be interesting

jail break tourney wont work, however we should have a muck around with JB

i still think the best way to have a good comp is 1v1s or rounds of 1v1s...if there are enough people (i doubt it) there could even be some TDM or CTF/DD/BR

but we will see

im definitely up for some fun games of JB tho :)

yeah, 1v1 is the way to go. weapons stay off, frag limit (cause in time limitited the winning person runs away):) Could maybe get 10 people together for a 5v5 CTF match. It's not hard to run, even the CS players could have a go.

for one the redeemer isnt used in duels, which the ut2k3 comp should be run as

ill run some ctf or br or dd at 69 and we can have a muck around

and for next lanx ill gauge interest for a utk23 comp and if there is enough ill make it something different as opposed to 1v1

Hey I'm new here obviously.

I was a big fan of UT but personally I think UT2003 isnt as bad as what people make it. I still have heaps of fun playing it.

I think it didn't take of because no one wants to up grade, so instead of playing it and helping it gain any popularity people still play cs and make it (cs) seem better than it is. Just a thought.

PS: I'm from melb but will hopefull be there for x7. Anyway bye.

Hey Elf, welcome to the family, I've been playing UT for about 3 years, it was my favorite game until 2K3 came out and all the original servers got taken down. That's probably why most of us pure UTer's hate it. I didn't need to upgrade to run it, cause at the time of the realease i had gotten my yearly uber comptuer. But still, something about it just doesn't sit right, do enjoy a game every now and again, but appart from jumping in the comp and playing devils advocate, I don't really have the love for UT I used to :( *wipes a tear*

I hear ya, kenny.

UT (and CS, for that matter) were filled with emotion. Usually anger, frustration and revenge, but emotion none-the-less. UT2k3 has less "rewards" than the other two games (and quite a lot of others).

Example: When you're playing UT, you impact-hammer someone to bits, the Humiliation mod yells "kyzen WAS DISGRACED!!!", and screams of laughter/pain echo around the room. But UT2k3, you impact-hammer someone, and nothing really happens... a person dies. So what?

C'est la emotional gaming. This is the advantage CS has over alot of games.

I've only got a 56k connection so I dont play online much, maybe thats where I missed the point.

Hopefully there is some UT of any kind going on though. It will be interesting to see who has kept their skills up to date. I'm probably no good at the original UT anymore.

Heh, you don't have a clue do you? The 2nd fire on the Bio has been named by many players as the "Mini-Nuke". Fully charged Bio+Direct hit = Dead player (even at 199 health/ 150 shields)
The bio needs a good nerf.

Honestly -- that's really only if you're against someone who is either AFK or unplugged their keyboard or is really really dumb and can't see the blob coming.

Besides which -- a non-charged secondary fire in regular UT tended to do some harm to the soul.
