Just wondering if you guys would buy an 8 port ADSL modem if one was made?
Feel free to give the jerks on WP a hosing if you would, I think I'm talking to the wrong crowd over there...

I'd rather buy a module the size of a single RJ45 port with RJ12 female on one end, RJ45 male on the other end, bunch of circuits and shit in the middle (circuits and shit make things go!), and plug it into a switch.
As much as the faggots on WP deserve some sort of comeuppance for being elitist cunts (I need a similar comeuppance i reckon), the thread's closed. Cooooooool.

i use 1 port on my ADSL modem... to connect to my 8 port gigabit switch.. ;)
and i also use the G\N wireless too....
Do you mean something like the linksys RV082 without redundancy?
Put simply, the market for such a device is way too small.
They do exist, but they aren't intended for home users, so they have features and a price attatched better and higher than you would like.
If you really want, theres 4 WAN with ADSL modem unbuilt, 24 port 10gbe routers out there. just need to know where to look.
"4 ports fill up rather quickly. In 2008 I don't think 4 ports should be the standard any more, even if it's only 10/100 port it would still have way better performance than plugging in a switch to an existing modem creating a nice little bottleneck."
Where is this bottleneck? Unless you are utilising the ports on the modem aswell, which is rather pointless if your attatching a Gbe switch to it.
Should make yourself clear before calling other people wrong, when they are not (well, they are only not wrong if they assuming you set up the network properly).

a 4 port item should be more then you need. If you fill it up good. If you need more - go get yourself an 8 porter. For 20 bucks for a new one ... .they cost sfa.
Or just be like me, and run more network gear then most small businesses do. Problem solvered
To answer your question kenny - no i wouldnt get one :)
