Reality Evolved is running a 48 person LAN, right here in Ballarat.

Dates: Friday 7th - Sunday 9th December
Times: 6 pm Friday - midday Sunday
Seats: 48 available!
Entry: $15 per head

There are going to be well over $200 worth of prizes given away, including Guf hours, free drinks, 1/2 price or free entry to our next LAN, plus many more. This is in addition to Trophies for winning teams, and the eternal glory :P . A large chunk of the prizes will take the form of a door prize, available to anyone in the room at the time!

Haha, I still don't know who, if anyone, did infact call me that but for some reason it was very amusing to say at the time.

The other time I think I yelled 'OY CUNT' or something boganish at the 2 cops who rocked up on the other night thinking they were people rocking up to the LAN before seeing their uniforms and flashlights, they we're easy going though, the police woman even seemed interested in what we were playing.

Considering the proximity of RG lan to the police station there may be an encounter if we don't behave, but i'm sure we will since it's a non alchohol event, plus theres no neighbours.

Just a quick update; we're taking suggestions for other comps. We'll replace them by popular demand, seeming as your the folks who will be playing in them! So if you're planning on coming, feel free to put up your opinion here or on our forums as to which comp you think should be replaced, and with what.

CoD4's probably too new and demanding for a comp, but I'm sure some people would like to play it casually at the LAN anyway, along with other new titles.

I got no grievances with the comps, I'll probably only join in the CoD2 one, if any.

Maybe LANX can promote this LAN a bit as well, since they've got no announced upcoming LAN of their own they may as well get people involved in another Ballarat VicLAN.

Then we can check out how many people have it and can play it well enough, then Rolphy and co can make a more educated and experienced decision on whether it can be a comp.

Probably stick to BF2 until we have a better idea of how many people can run CoD4. If we rock up and it runs easily on everyones and people want to, we'll swap CoD2 over to CoD4.. lol.

I can't stand BF2 anymore, and the only populated DCon mod server is in Germany and it kicks me for high ping.

There is a populated Australian Project Reality mod server though, which is alright once you get around to downloading all 1.83 gig of it.

Sorry no - BF2 or similar. CoD4 is a modern shooter, with unlocks. Essentially a newer and far superior Battlefield.

That's my impression atleast.

Although I imagine CoD4 is probably better then BF2, they're different types of shooters despite both having unlocks.

The real BF2 killer IMO will be Frontlines, although there are a lot of other open battle MP shooters with vehicles in the mix (Last 2 UT games, Crysis, Quake Wars etc).
