Just so people stop asking, I thought I made it clear on the front page :P LANX is closed for renovations, and when I say renovations, I mean exactly that (see attached images).

I wanted to start ripping that wall out at the start of next week, after X when I'm on holidays, but the guys were booked out so it had to be shifted to this week, I've had to take time off early and get this done and haven't got time to run X!

Didn't hear back last time when I emailed and sms'd to confirm the date! So it looks like I have to spend another couple of weeks looking for a new venue, just to have people bitch about it because they can't be fucked waddling their fat nerd asses up a flight of stairs... :gs

It's fkn hard to find a venue with the unique mix of things we need to run a LAN! If you guys were all willing to pay $50+ per person, it wouldn't be a problem, but to get a venue with what we need, for the price we need, is quite... a mission...

Yeah man, I ran a comp last year to find us a venue, put the feelers out and got st pats for a year! I'm about to start the comp again, this time I'll be handing out 2 LANX GOLD CARDS for the winning entry ;) That's 2 free entry passes for a year to who ever finds out next home ;) I'll post details about requirements later on, but pretty similar to the old one (http://www.lanx.org.au/forum/showthread.php?t=1543) except the room will be a little bigger and enough gear for about 80-100 people, as I want to open it up to all ages again. OH YEAH!

Yeah, dunno what happened there but I'll get in touch with the new chick, the plan for the new year is going back to 8 lans (maybe 6) having 2 at the elbow and 4-6 at an all ages venue, and get back to some serious gaming, some of the old blokes have lost the twitch, so it gets boring running around spanking them like bitches! Need some young bloods for more lively target practice ;)

Ok ok! I'll make contact with the new elbow owners and see what they can offer. We're on a shoestring as it is, so if they want more money than Andrew I wont be able to do it, unless I pass on the cost of course! But people will sook and not come if the cost goes up, it's been fkn $25 for years! Prices go up people! SHIT! I wish I could still buy a large big m for 95 cents, but I can't! :P

having said that, the problem with the elbow is that the younger gamers can't come and they're not going to go to guf (this has been established, not something i'm making up).. so numbers will be down, comps will be low in numbers and we'll be back in the same situation as the last LAN.

we need an all-ages venue.. but now we're visiting old grounds by looking for a venue.

lol, yep.. i went to guf for the epic SF comp when one of the last lanx events were on, a lot of people playing wow.. more interest in cheap hours for wow and none for comps..

problem for the legit youngens who want to lan is they can't take their own PC, can't 133CH and they're away from the big kids, so it's just not as fun for them. it's not their fault they're young, they're just born that way.

AND its cheap, not to metion im sure you can get it under sponsorship, im sure with a few WELL worded emails you can get internet sponsored, plus i got good friends in red bull from the events i run so im sure it would be cool to get them onboard for free redbull for everyone so than that covers underage and overage, maybe even go to city council to try and get funding off them if needed yet again with a well worded speech about how lanx is giving ballarat a great gaming experience unlike seen before and it would help ballarat expand with its gaming for all people.

one: they wont give us the venue until the full amount is paid; and
two: it's fucking extortion, we were sponsored and owe them nothing, but the person who sponsored the connection said it's not their problem... buck passing bullshit!

lol, the miners exchange was the first venue lanx ever looked at, lanx 1 was supposed to be run there, until it all fell to shit because they didn't want all the pc's in there and I had to organise kryal castle 2 weeks before the event :P
