There's been rumours floating around about a possible new venue for LANX! Well.. I'm finally able to confirm and announce, with great pleasure, that the new venue will be The Bended Elbow!

I'm damn excited about the direction we have choose to take this year, LANX is going to have more of a party atmosphere (á la LAN69)!

LANX 28 @ The Bended Elbow will be an 18+ event as there will be alcohol available at our own personal bar ;) But don't worry under 18's! We're working to secure you guys a place to game with us (Details Announced Soon!)

For ages now, lanx have accomodated for all, but now, it's time to move on.
Time for you youngens to experience other admins, other similar lanx experiences(none quite as good, but ok :P)

Theres a lot of hating for kids under 18. Come on guys. Its not like you can just sign a form saying "my mums sais I can go". Its not exactly kyzens point neither - its just he's picked an adult destination, which for the adults (myself included) sounds GREAT

I've noticed its a lot of the younger kids who smack talk it up instead of having a great game too - bah humbug to that. Exceptions like Frosty though, great to see mature gamers like that, so maybe there might be some kind of concession possible. IE, does the bended elbow bar shut down at 3am?

lanX has a pretty long heritage, going through their photos folder confirms that pretty good - so it looks like Kyzens pulled out the stops again. Good job, and looking forward to the new direction.

Dunno yet dude, didn't expect to loose St Pats... I mean, that's why we spend to much getting custom gear made for the room ffs... We were offered the bended elbow just as we found out we lost st pats, so we took it! Only planned on running 2 out of the 8 lans there a year, and keeping the rest all ages, but still haven't found a suitable venue for all ages events! I'm working on a few things dude, don't loose faith ;)

I'm actually looking at "acquiring" an permanent venue for lanning in Ballarat, but more on that as it develops. :)

Yeah bro, that's why it's only $20, the main reason is there is only one entrance to the upstairs bit and it happens to be right next to the front door!!! So I didn't want you guy to have to fight your way through the friday night crowd with your pc's! So I started the lan when the elbow was closed, they don't start taking people on saturday until midday I think it is, give you a couple of hours to get in with your pc's before it opens. This isn't the ideal situation as I would rather have a 3 dayer as always, trying to work out a way around it, but really wanted to get this first one rocking first :)

On entry you'll get a event tag, so you'll be able to come and go as you please :) no tag, no entry, that's how we're doing security, so random spastics don't invite themselves up ;)

On the signups page, have the normal email field renamed to "memberaddress" or something like that, and insert a different input like thus:
<input name="email" id="capt" />
and in the CSS file, add this:
#capt { display: none; }

If the hidden email input gets filled out, you know a bot's gone through and automatically filled out the form. Chuck in a line or two of PHP to add the bot's IP to the banlist.
If it's empty, you know it's a normal user.

Bots don't fill out all fields, only the minimum required for registration, so fail. :(

Fuck that :) Explanation of how vB updates, you delete all the forum files, you upload the new ones, you run the update script on the database. Code modifications need to be redone everytime you update, that's why all the custom stuff I did has gone, cbf maintaining code mods that need to be redone everytime! I just don't care that much about a random spam post every couple of weeks! If I did, I would have banned shadowX's account a long time ago! :P
