However, two things are clear: 1) the high price of the PlayStation 3 is going to slow overall industry growth, especially for software and 2) if Sony does not change its current strategy for the PS3 the system will probably end up in third place in installed base.

The part where they talk about the ps3 being upgradable scares me... consoles are meant to be 1 solid standard.

Yeah, I'd have to agree. No matter how many teragigapetaflops it can process... People will most likely grab a 360 and a Wii for the same price as they'd pay for the PS3. All seems very poorly thought out.

Mmm, you can only copy the desktop computer's features long enough before it becomes one itself. I think that they won't make upgrades too drastic, but just capitalise on what modders have been doing for ages (big hard drives, etc.). They also talk about upgradeable memory - the appeal of a console is to plug and play, not having to understand why your game runs shit because your haven't got enough RAM. Bad, bad idea.

well, i suppose we'll all just have to watch and see i suppose... who knows, maybe sony are trying to reveal their homosexuality - but dont know how to come out of the closet!
