Hi All,
This is my first post to LanX . I am wanting to setup a home network and am looking to put in a hard wired Cat 5 cables. Where is a good place to buy cable, crimping tool, RJ-45 (http://www.lanshack.com/Cat-5E-8-Conductor-Modular-Plug---Bag-of-100-P1339C56.aspx) plugs etc. in Ballarat.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Rupert.

Middy's at the top of mair st (big pink place), that's where I get wall plugs/plates. Goto B&D tech and get CAT6 solid core for your in wall cable. You wont need a crimping tool, you'll need a krone punch down tool, when you're at middy's, ask for one of the disposible one's, you get them for free. I would buy the patch cables between the wall and the pc, easier and a good crimper is $200+, not worth it for a one off project, and not worth getting a shit one :)
WES for the plates, covers, and krone rj45 sockets, otherwise Middys or Auslec (L&H)
WES for the CAT5e/CAT6 (if you want a roll), if you don;t want 200 or so meters, definately not there.
Those $200 crimpers can be bought for about $70 from WES.. I'd die without one (and have no network).. sif not worth it.
And those cheapy $40 yellow all plastic ones are fine, got a pair of them aswell, just gotta squeeze a bit harder.
