A version of the hacked firmware is now out in the wild.

Attatched is the readme file.

I won't tell you where to get it, but it is real, and does work.

its called Xtreme_Package.rar, and has MD5 of 866D6C20B4378B17E0EA448AD 1F9D6E8

thats all I'll say ;)

oh.. and my backup copy of NFS:MW works quite nicely :p

personally.. I won't go on live with this, and will be flashing back to origional before I do..
atleast till I get to see what MS are gonna do about it.. this will definately not last.. (atleast, won't last if you plan on using live)

Sorry about it being late.. I been like, involved with e3, and assignments.. and them arcade games HAD to be played... this took last place :P

I'll add one more thing...

commodore4eva released it..
sniperkil has released a nice bunch of SS for NTSC consoles.

and I don't beleive in piracy, so don't ask for my SS's, or like I said, where to find them.

Didn't some guy do this a while ago, and then refuse to release it? What a cock fag.

I don't have a 360, but the thought of people so easily bypassing copy protection puts a smile on my face.

Oh yeah, it can be easily found on any decent torrent site.

the specialist did it..
he released everything except the built firmware.
commodore4eva copied what specialist did, made some changes and put it in the wild.
the changes being, no need to unsolder a 32pin flash rom, getting it to flash correctly through the sata connector.
if the specialist did release his 9/10 attempts woulda resulted in dead 360's, he did the right thing in MANY ways!
if he didn;t do it, you wouldn't see this...
so ffs, why abuse the people that give you this?

I don't know their life biographies like you ;), I assumed that commodore4eva and specialist worked seperately. And they didn't give me shit, I don't have a 360 :P.

i would love to be these guys who can hack these consoles...
if i had the time i would make a decenet go at it, but would only get so far...

they don't do it solo, well, not many do.. those that do I really look up to.
this development was joint work of over 20 people..
of those 20, about 5 of them are just incredible, I mean, I really hope to be that good one day, to read what they do and know, and how damned quick they do it, is simply stunning!!!
I follow only 2/3->3/4 of what they do... basically the 'hacking the firmware' part is my limitation to do by myself, and thats only a minor, and I mean MINOR peice of the puzzle :(

ohh yeah firmware is truley the first peice of the puzzle, i know it can be easy or it can be difficult programming or even hacking firmware. it's a mier understanding of the code structure first, the rest is being able to make a "hack" actually work, i know with what i do we use very minimal code, but enough to make things work. We also use a cypher to hide these code structures, for obvious reasons, but it is only a matter of time before all firmware code structures will be protected including that of consoles or any PC components, i know it has been a long time comming, and these teams / people you mention are real serious "brains" to understand and be able to hack these things. i'm seriously jelous of these people, there at a stage i one day only dream to be at with understanding, but by then there may or may not be a need for firmware?,
but there's always something to hack even it's still CS as such lol...
meh fuck that...

The firmware on the dvdroms is cyphered.. :)
That cypher was cracked very early on, before any of this started, I have no idea by who or when.
the code structure in the flash (after being decrypted) is nothing abnormal from any other dvd-rom.

I'd personally say you need to understand the cpu, and wiring (what pins do what) and the communication protocol between the IC's and components before looking at the dissasembled ASM.. then a massive knoledge of asm in general, along with datasheets for the cpu, flash, so you know what special instructions the cpu has and what they do.. along with having the knoledge of then making your own asm to change these functions to do what you want, and all that last part is done HEX level.

if I understood the rest I could explain it, like interpreting the streams, knowing how to decipher the stream to work out the protocol, know when and how to capture can be as difficult, and a lot more shit like that.
then after finding routines in the hex, knowing how to talk to more modified firmware to manually read those parts of the discs, not readable by normal firmware.. and alike..

jelous is one word for it.. and I feel the same.. and am working my hardest to understand.
maybe I might know enough to do something serious with the next gen?
its a dream... I hope I can make it happen :D

It'd be so nice to be able to make homebrew games for stuff like the 360 :(

I think I said in the other thread.. don't expect it to happen (this year).
maybe ever?
the xbox never was cracked, just rewritten and bypassed. not possible on this one.. and I'm positive I've said this.. all the guys are at a loss and don't know where to go..
very disheartening.

ohh i know the ROM's are cyphered,. but to the extent i was talking that cypher is a like a very small issue to those that bother with that, but your dead right cvt a flawless understanding of the PCB mapping, other instruction inhibitors including those of the video and CPU all mkae it worth while learning that's for sure!!!
but one day!!! :)

UPDATE:

The first xtreme firmware patched ISO has been put in the wild.
a PAL version of Call Of Duty 2
Of course its not on torrents, but I'm sure it'll leak over at some stage, its where all these things first get leaked :)
