quick guys, someone ebay me a VCR that erases video's as i watch them.

Can I format-shift a CD to another format and then format-shift it back again?
Can I record a TV program, watch it alone when another family member was out for the evening, and then allow the family member to watch it later? What if I overhear the sound from the adjacent room? Wnat if I accidently catch a glimpse of in on my way to the bathroom? But it was only during an ad break? But I've seen the ad before ... ?
My DVD player buffers frames before it plays them. (Doesn't yours?) Does that constitute a format-shift, becuase it is now in memory, or is it a backup? Does that mean I can use the DVD player as long as I don't watch it?
Has any body tested the legislators for ilegal substances?

That flaw..

and the fact Games play off RAM, and not the disc media.. is how me and hundreds of other ps2 chippers around au got out arse saved.. #1 on the pick list by sony had a fucking awsome lawyer, we should all respect both of them BIG TIME!

(those around when this happened know the whole story, search forums and you should find it)
I still see stuff that reminds me of this huge stack of legal documents sent to me from sony(like this).. farkin kants!

yeah i read the news articles released after copyright laws had been reviewed, i must say how can the government expect that there expectations are realistic? the fact that you can record to a video cassette and only watch what you recorded once is an outrage. Tell that to a footy buff who records the grandfinal and says he can only watch it once, what do you think will happen...
Also yet another outrage, i make it a habit to back up every orignal game and music cd i own, just makes sense, i mean what happens if someone steals it or you loose it, does it mean you have then lost your right listen to that music you legally purchased? does it mean you have lost the right to play the game you leaglly purchased?. How can the gov't expect to monitor these events anyway, what i do with my music CD's and Game CD's and DVD's after i have purchased them is up to me, i will rip as many times as i like, i'll share as much as i like, because the technology is avaliable to me, because there is no way i can possibly be sort out for doing this, unless of course, i was doing this for a profit gain.
This bullshit where having music on your portable digital media player "was" a form of illigal broadacasting / copyright infringment by the unauthorised "copy" or encoding of legally purchased music is another example where the gov't is over there head, the day i'm scared of the gov't sorting out people like me is when they have guys in black suites beating the crap out of anyone with an iPod, or making the sale of digital music players illegal!!! but like that'll ever happen. At this point i dont have much to worry about, nor should anyone else, as you guys should stand up for your rights to do what you like with your property!!!

i doubt their really going to enforce it. i think its just because they basically had minimal (if any) laws governing this kind of stuff, and they thought "wow, we are dumbasses, technology is growing so lets put strict laws on it". Hard to ignore the fact that lots of these laws = more cash for MPAA.
