I suggest: Keep the COD2 Comp, and have the Quake 3 comp on friday or saturday instead of sunday.

Don't care about Battlefront 2 or SWAT 4 or RobotArena 2 so i wouldn't miss them if you picked some other games. But if you would or wouldn't miss them game comps say so, i bet a few of you are like 'OMGZ NEVARZ! LEAF DEM GAMEZ!' right now :)

I don't sleep at LANX, i walk home and sleep till the next afternoon and walk back again, and since Sunday is the pack up/clean up day i'm not interested in getting up earlier and walking back then (i will pack up and clean up my own equipment and mess before i leave on Sunday morning mind you).
A few people told me how stuffed they were on Sunday and how they couldn't be bothered with the Quake 3 comp. Still i acknowledged from the start that there's other people like yourself who go to sleep earlier on Sat night and want to make every minute count by getting involved in Sundays events and good on yas for it. So nothing to flame about.

But cheers for trying to correct me, and i admit that my previous post was pretty pointless and so is argueing over it. :)

since when do we play in teams? we just start a game at a lan and ppl join whichever team they like, and we rarely actually work together to win a game anyway, its more stuffing around than anything else.

Don't worry, we haven't made a BF1942/DCF team or anything, we just pick a side and play each other at our own lans, so we'd have to figure out our team strategy on the spot just like everyone else.

Richo's right, theres a few in our group who never play it and 42 ground combat is pretty lame (DCF is a bit better). So we'd want a big vehicle based map. I prefer 42/DCF to BF2 in several other areas though.

Yes, but for everyone who doesn't get a plane or can't fly one gets bored/owned. DCF seems to be more balanced in that sense, because of stingers and rpgs and mobile AA.

Yeah it'd be nice for a change of pace from the old FPS, like a sports game or something. If we go for UT2k4 I think we should play some assault. It's an awesome gametype and would be a refreshing change from good old CTF or TDM, bring in some tactics, and its just great fun.

On the RTS side, BFMEII is a very fast-paced RTS as the building are as weak as piss, my record is 6mins 23 secs for a game :P

Well in my eyes if all gametypes are different (two fps though) one team does not dominate or at least I think it would be more interesting to change it up. If there are four fps's and a novelty I think you will notice a clear winner team in all comps..;)

fps's are make lans run smoothley. you can make them last as long as you want and they've got way more action than any other game type.

rts comps sont work, they take way too long.

noone with any self dignity plays mmos (i've heard of lans having wow as a comp :/)

and the sports games are usually gay because they often include stats that you gain through playing 1 player and then the people who play it at home own it at the lan (like bignick and nfsu, lol) or they are just gay anyway.

One of them is that NFS is like playing an rpg at a LAN. You have to work to mod up your cars and fine tune them and such, people who don't own the game or don't play it often will have an incredible disadvantage to those who do own it.

Yeh but thats the same thing with robot arena. Quite a few people on our table got it at the start of the lan but didnt enter the comp coz they didnt know what to do and took then almost the entire lan to actually build a robot that worked. And its much the same with any game, people who have played it for a long time have an advantage over those who just got it.

Unsure yet if i wil be attending this lan but i was wondering if anyone had played
FIFA street.
i played it for about an hour and found it quite awesome, very embarrising when u run the whole field and some of the stuff u can do is wicked so if any1 has it hows bout a game.
meh just putting it out here really (im up for any soccer game if anyone wants to play)

Lol thanks Joshu. Yeh BF2 was so rushed, they released a patch less than 2 weeks after it came out and they're still fixing stuff (although it hasnt crashed on me yet).

They havent fixed shit. Its been over a year and the game has more bugs now than it did on release, and they cant be stuffed fixed anything either.

Someone should seriously consider confiscating that company's money.

Battlefield 2 crashes every time i try starting it up.

Although the game frustrated me more then it entertained me, i was looking forward to trying out the mods.

I like it, I just can't stand it as a comp. It took me about 5 minutes to get into the game, and by that time the other team had caught every base and you were farked.

I haven't played any mods for Battlefield 2 yet, I used to be addicted to them when I had 1942 :).

Yeh the BF1942 mods were awesome. Ive heard that quite a few of them are also working on mods for BF2 which seem to be taking forever. Theres one out, the Codename Eagle Legends (snazz correct me if im wrong) which is pretty cool. Its coming along quite nicely now with a number of vehicles and weapons done to be just like the old school game Codename Eagle. Talk to snazz, he knows lots about it.

Most of the released Battlefield 2 mods so far are either boring mini-mods or have so little publicity behind them compared to EA's expansion/booster packs that no server is willing to host them. The more substantial and well known mods are taking forever to release and there's no popular Australian BF2 mod servers online at the moment. :P

The BF1942 mods got more attention, especially Desert Combat, which had more players then Vanilla BF1942 at one point. :)

If you're still interested in BF2 mods, the most substantial total conversion mod released so far is:
Codename Eagle : Legends (http://celegends.com) which was developed by some friends of mine in the US as a tribute to the original Codename Eagle game that we played online.
