I would have gone out and got BF2, but i played it on a mates pc...just never took to my liking (Except the covert knifing stunts i pulled)

battlefield 2: intro movie, that's it
battlefield 2142: can't see anything worth of anything

Seriously, I didn't see anything worth noting that's "new" except a shitty "storyline" (which, by the way, is a load of crap). Just a fucking BF2 rehash, and if it's going to play as poorly (read: play not at all), then fuck that shit, let's play CoD2 or BF1942.

Looks like they used the same engine. I'll have to play a beta or demo of it to decide if im gonna buy it.

Edited: whatever the bf2 engine is called, it is really patchy. I don't like it at all.

Jesus Christ.....EA hardly give us a year to play BF2 and milk us for money with Special Forces/Euro Forces/Armoured Fury etc before they make another shameless grab for cash.

This game looks exactly like BF2 enginewise so really all they will be doing is giving it a different setting, adding some new maps and guns and charging us 90 dollars for it again.

Can't they at least wait 2 years before spewing another sequel?

i have to disagree, the entire reason bf1942 was good was because of the dumbassed bots. i mean, it was the absolute shittest game technically-wise. constant updates and patches, you could snipe with a pistol, massive network issues... the bots were its greatest feature :D

I have to disagree too, but this time with you, i play bf1942 (and it's mods) online and it's one of my favourite games of all time. I play BF1942 more then i play BF2 online. In 1942 i get bored with the bots after about 30 minutes, but i admit they're more fun to play against then in most other games because theres so many of them and they're so easy to massacre. The infantry combat is poor ofcourse, though i've never sniped with or been sniped by a pistol. The vehicles are what it's mainly about, and i love the planes. After the patches (which also included more content) the game is fine to play, rarely crashes online and the netcode (which supports 64 players) is lightyears ahead of other games of its time. I'd expect that if you asked people who regularly play bf1942 online i'm sure they'd also say the bots are only a bonus and that it's a great game with great mods.

As for 2142, it looks rediculous, but i'll wait to play the demo to see if it's worth getting, and if there's any gameplay improvements over BF2 (the trend of the BF series suggests the opposite).

I agree with snazz, the bf1942 bots keep you entertained for a while and are quite good fun to muck around with (and are halarious to watch when they try and fly the Hind in DC). Although i do prefer BF2 to it because of its more developed ground infrantry combat. BF2142 looks like its gonna be a crappy rushed new game thats gonna use the same engine and pretty much be the same as BF, but i guess we'll have to wait and see.

im not to sure i think ill play it before ill judge it but it looks very Mech warrior/Terrminator 3 style as in look at some of the vehicles.... it could be interesting to play LAN but untill it comes out i wont talk about it.
