I just got one of those Logitech G15 boards and they are pretty cool shit to start off with, If any1 else has one can you pm or something.
But do people like the idea of Z boards or what ever thats out there and what makes the perfect keyboard (key layout an shit if you know what i mean)

Yeah....but it would be different. The screen on the G15 can display your ammo, kill count, score etc while playing games. And it looks cool. :tg

I am no maths genius.....but I think the LCD display costs more.

the Logitech G15's are not to bad at all(from what i have read)
the Z boards are not to bad as well i saw one of them in sale yesterday and it looks like there made for a certain game (BF2, CoD2 and WoW) and there is a common one (no game theme)
but they would be good for lan as they fold up
I was looking at the WolfClaw keyboards and i think they would be pritty good for gaming as well and they dont cost you an arm and a leg

The Zboards you buy with a normal key set and a gaming keyset, then you can also buy different keysets for specific games. All of which are interchangerable with the Zboard base.

Its not wasted if the board is put to good use, ie lanning alot. I love the back lit keys on it, so handy for lans when its really dark. :D

Someone might use it for more important information, like for MSN toasts - instead of having the toast turn up on your screen and fuck the rendering, it'd show up on the keyboard.

not only has it got a lcd screen, but the keys are backlit so you can see them in the dark, and the board was made for pwning once you put your fingers on the keys

When i said But "for games" i meant generally for games i wouldn't care at all...
i also mentioned that i did agree with you joshu, (meaning yeah, the other features are sexy)
they are awesome in the respect that they can be configured for ping/fps/etc...(all that jazz)
I actually went into EB yesterday, picked up the box, had a read, i know, they are great...(completely agree)
Basically, i just dont see the need to pay extra, for something that i dont pay attention to that much.

Thats a valid point, but i really wanted to know what people preffered in a keyboard, but the LCD screen I haven't payed much attention to yet. You can also turn off teh windows shortcuts and windows key so you don't lag and minimise your game.

lol LCD radar hey, well i have a G15 and have for a while! there pritty cool. as rich0 said the backlit keys are handy and the LCD is well.... cool but doesnt do a grat deal. its handy that it has a clock i like that cause when you in a game there aint no start bar, but it also does MSN allerts so you know whos bitching at you when ur gaming at home and you can choose to alt tab or not. kinda making MSN like x fire why not just use x fire, i dunno! but the g keys are also pritty handy and i also love having good backlit media keys (including volume) that makes life that little bit easier. i love the G15 (and you can get them cheap if you look in the right places! easily under 100 and super chep if you get it in a combo with a G5) ohh ond the other sweet thing it has is a gaming mode... with the flick of a button you can set it to gaming mode, this disables windows key etc so you dont get alt tabed! any who, this is sounding like a feking add so im off to make love to my G15!!!

dont know about the G5 mouse but i have the logitech MX 1000 Laser mouse... and i tell you best mouse i have EVER used its just great, prefect responce in games. just an awesome mouse, the internal battery seems to last for ages it doesnt matter if i leave it off its charger, its great :) hope that helped

yeah, the mx1000 or the G7 looks really good, cirtainly worth a look at the G7 its got some nice sencitivity on the go changes available, could be good for different wepons in games, like a zoomed in sniper rifle... :)

Don't bother with the G7, cordless mices are gimmicks. G5's fun to use, but mine has a weird middle button which never seems to click properly cause of the "left scroll" and "right scroll" gayness.
The sensitivity thing is good if you do 3D modelling or pixel art or any other digital art. Nice to be able to drop down to fine control, and then go back up to full speed without having to open any stupid dialogs.

G15 keys are too small for my liking, the lcd is cool yet highly gimicky, backlights look nice even though i wouldn't use them (touch typing skillz) but it just wouldn't fit into my laptop if i tried :P (nor do i have any more free usb ports)
As for G5's i like the weight and sensitivity options aswell as the smoothness of the mouse on various surfaces, but it doesn't look as sexy as my red MX510 nor does it have as many buttons on it to bind melee attacks, grenades and other things of that nature. Handy in COD2 because it avoids having to risk pressing the start key when going to club someone, and alt tabbing at that moment isn't an enjoyable experience. So the MX5 series has it's own solution to avoiding the start key whilst gaming. :)
Discussing Wireless mouses, well they annoy me, because of the extra weight and the hassle of recharging. So unless the power source becomes wireless too, i won't buy one.

18 keys down the left, from which you can choose 3 programmable sets. Frosty has his G1, G2, G3 keys bound to run msnmsgr, winamp, googletalk.

All those keys....its arrousing me, and my fetish for getting a random tattoo with a randoms name. ;)
I have them set for all sorts of shit, macro's for PSCS2, extra bindings in games, simple auit scripts for all sorts of shit..
if you can't find a valuable use for all of them theres something severly wrong with the way you use your computer.... :P

i got mine the day they were shipping, tis very sexy and i got a lovely little code monkey making a script to display my evaporator temps on the LCD :)
LCD Studio2 I'm using for displaying shitnits on my screen, nicely customizable...
Shows me what I can't see when in game (yes, I do have a second screen, usually thats vmware full screen)
too manys never enough eh :P

As for the backlight, i think its awesome coz im constantly squinting at my keys to try and read them in the dark (no leet touchtyping skillz) and the LCD is also cool but i cant justify spending that much on a keyboard when mine works fine. As for the mice, i have an mx518 and i love it :D. IMO they're better than than the G5, coz i like the finish better, they have the extra button and cost less :D (and its not like that extra 400dpi really matters).

Unless you sit so close that you can't see the top of your keyboard, with a screen that is sitting up mind you, you have some serious issues. Unless of course you maybe have a broken neck and are stuck looking at the roof or something.

He roughly means, theres no point in looking at a keyboard LCD for game info that's already on the main screen. Not surprisingly alot of people want to watch and concentrate on the game they're playing rather then look down at their keyboard all the time, no matter how close it is to the main screen.
Military cockpits have HUDs (head up displays) aswell for similar reasons, you don't want to have to look down and away from the sky to find out info. Just like you don't want to look away from your main screen when playing a game, especially when it's info already displayed on the game HUD (ammo, health etc).
I really can't see the point of ammo/health on the lcd...
I display net usage, song playing, ping and who's talking on vent.
they are not available on screen during game.
and if any of them, the seeing who's talking on vent is VERY handy!

Yeah i wouldn't mind that kind of info on my keyboard, but the G15 is just extra luggage for me and most other laptop users.
If i had the money for a micro desktop then i'd probably get a G15 or something similar for it though.
