I was wondering which ISPs you use - your connection speed, download limit, how much data you get, and what price you pay.
I'm looking to churn away from my current one, as I'm getting rightly fed up with them not having a PoP in Victoria, which results in 70 - 90 pings on a 1.5mb ADSL connection.

iinet (http://iinet.net.au) - 1536kbps down, 256kbps up - 5 gig off peak, 5 gig on peak - flatrate (slows down to 64kbps after limit is reached) - 30mb webspace - $60 a month - no extra cost

If you're content with 512/128, and want a bit more from the downloads, I'd recommend my current plan:
$45/mo : Wild I+T (http://www.wildit.com.au/wild_dsl_autumn2005.htm) 512/128 25GB Residential Grade
Although I recommend you search in this page (http://www.wildit.com.au/terms_&_conditions.htm) for "4.2" if you consider the plan. Nothing that's not easily dealt with.

Clear networks 2mbps up and 2mbps down wireless connection, with a "special" reserved backhaul into the Commonwelath banks private backbone fibre network, which is achiveable "legally" for bussiness purposes. anyway, i get VoiP, and IPTV plus net 20gig Limit at $159 a month... not worth them oney i pay atm, my ping truley sux at times!!!
you know nCable was teh shit back in the day when they first offered uncapped speeds... i was kept happy...

Wild I&T looks good - especially their business grade 1.5 plan. I think I'll go with them.
Ncable was something I didn't get to try - I unfortunately lived in a joint with underground power. I wouldn't mind some 2mb up/down - but at that price, I'd have to return to prostitution.

Whirlpool Broadband Choice (http://bc.whirlpool.net.au/) might be of some use.

haha! lawl, i'm not hippin and hoppin with the adsl lingo. i've had a look into adsl, and wild it (the one joshu suggested) seemed like a pretty awesome isp. and joshu gave it raving reviews too.
but big noobs planning on waltzing into the whirlpool forums, dont say anything positive or negative about any isp's. negative - you get flamed, positive - aparantly you're a fanboy.

Yeah, I post on Whingepool, and know about the Broadband Choice bit. I just wanted some suggestions, because from experience, cheap is nearly always cheap and nasty. But given the blessing Joshu gave Wild, looks like they're the pick. And good news - I'll have even more shit to share with those purdy unlimited downloads, growl.

Hahaha, 4 slots is about my 'puter's maximum before it starts slowing too noticably. And maybe another for someone who I want one off :).
...Want to sponser me on a couple of 10k RPM drives I can RAID? ;).

4.2 For Residential Grade services, data is prioritised according to protocol type as follows:
(a) Level 1: HTTP, FTP, E-mail, Known Gaming Ports
(b) Level 2: MSN, ICQ, IRC etc
(c) Level 3: News Groups, Streaming, ICMP
(d) Level 4: General Use Ports that can or may be re-prioritized when necessary
(e) Level 5: P2P, Ports that are liable to be easily exploited by virus/trojans, Known software piracy sites, etc.
so do they actually throttle or block P2P at all? or is there anything that you can actually notice as a result of 4.2.
Nothing that's not easily dealt with.
could you elaborate a bit please?

I'm going for the business plan anyway, that stuff doesn't apply to me. It just looks like traffic prioritisation - if you chuck your P2P apps onto a different port or something, it ought to make it work fine.
