Try the computer show next time it comes around. Sometimes they have a drop-it-off-and-come-back-in-an-hour booth.

Article. (http://australianit.news.com.au/articles/0,7204,16832497%5E15306%5 E%5Enbv%5E,00.html)
THE High Court of Australia has unanimously ruled that mod-chips are legal,

Sony asked the court to include the chips among devices that are outlawed under the Copyright Act.

However, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) intervened in the case and argued that region-coding was detrimental to consumer choice. It said that Sony's prtoection technology created artificial trade barriers between Australian and overseas games and DVD markets.

Where the fark are the regionless DVDs, then? Not that I don't have a no-region player, but I hate firmwaring my DVD-ROM :P.

If you want to know I have about 1" thick of legal bullshit which conatins all the legal extracts about these circumvention devices which sony lawyers sent me about a month ago.

Sony won't leave me alone.. even tho I haven't been chipping for years they still send out big fucking parcels of all the laws I'm breaking by being a modder.

so even tho I havent read any of it.. its here to peruse.

oh, I started reading the article.. this is why I still get letters.

"Australia's courts have been testing the legality of the chips since to 2001 when Sony Computer Entertainment Australia (SCEA) filed a suit against mod chip supplier Eddy Stevens in the Federal Court."

I was one of the very small bunch who sonys lawyers jumped on, he was the one who got nabbed.
you probably remember me back then having a huge whinge about sony and the crap they were threatning me with :)

the chippers won :)

Go Sony rootkit... you'll get us somehow!
