the best system I ran was a via epia, running that distro that was only mythtv.. with a few minor mods.
I never ran touchscreen, I used a sony headunit remote with it, but was very quick to start, and played everything, easy to operate with remote.

the first I ran was XP lite and winamp, with remote plugin.

myth should run quite sweet with a touchscreen tho...

http://www.mp3car.com/ <-- proudly one of the first on that site.. and one of the first 20 or so with pics of carputers on there..
nowdays its HUGE, heaps of ideas, software hardware ideas..

the via is a good option tho, 12v PSU (no inverter), only needs to be 45w to run a wireless adaptor and HDD, inc mobo, I had the fanless so made no noise either...(and psu didn;t need a fan)
the brand of PSU i forget, but its the one still most common (maybe only 12v input PSU)
I made a delay, so when amp wire got triggered, 5 seconds before computers starts to boot (so when flicking past ignition to start it didn;t kill it during boot) and a 15 min shutdown timer..

just q quick question..... whats the deal with dvi,... do lcds look better when u use that function or is it a load of tripe cos most of the monitors that i have seen with dvi have higher refresh rates and are generally more expencive...
