Google Talk is in beta and requires a Gmail username and password.

It's just jabber + voip. You can connect with GAIM

900k DL. DOesnt use much resources either.

EDIT: Jayshoes sent me the connection info for jabber to it.

- THE BEST VOIP I'VE SEEN IN A COMPUTER PROGRAM EVER!!! On LAN it's 20ms of one-way lag... so on the internet across two adsl connections there'd be lag of 70ms. IT IS FUCKING AWESOME.

I take it you didn't download the A-patch? eliminates all that crap. ads, "nudge shit", "bullshitwinks"

jabber is a awsome IM system, and have used it a fair bit as a work connection, but noones been willing to leave there beloved msn..
infact people left icq and went to there beloved msn
