We've all used IEEE802.3 at VicLAN events and at home, and we've probably all used IEEE 802.11 at one time or another, but check this out:

Yep, theres an officiallly ratified standard for carrier pidgeons with disks strapped to their legs :D

Probably not the best standard for gaming though...

I've seen stranger network standards. Arsed if I can remember the rfc# of it though. Something to do with TCP/elephants I think.
