although, some people who cant touch type would be a bit annoyed with it when they are trying to chat in quake or something. there being no letters and all
<3 Ropey
17-07-2005, 10:32 AM
thats where button mashing skills come in use them to type

<3 Ropey
17-07-2005, 10:44 AM

*NoN*Da]rY*
17-07-2005, 11:09 AM

Joshu
17-07-2005, 11:12 AM
rY*']IKJL
Freak :p
But yeah, learn to touchtype. If I had one I'd make it display bananas in pyjamas on each key.

Open Source Keyboard... sdk.. sounds promising, could become more awsome..
winamp visualisation acrosss all the keys...

oleds arn;t that fast, but by far they ain;t that slow.. wonder if it could handle that.. as if we all don't want one :)
Peter
17-07-2005, 01:54 PM
i dont think there is any reason you couldnt get it to display the normal letters after you press "chat"

I love how you'll be able to program it yourself, as in display the images and functions of the buttons yourself, which is what I really like about it. How sweet will it be to give the keyboard a new look for each game you play!! I'll be buying one - as long as it's much less than a "good phone" :P.
Joshu

Unlikely. :/ IMHO they'll be in such low demand because of their high production cost that they'll have an exceptionally high price.

This would be quite simple to overcome, the keyboard could load a qwerty picset (made that one up) for presses of the 'chat' buttons and the '~' for console commands, and load the gaming picset on the second presses of '~' for the console and 'enter' for chat messages. Would work quite simply really.

themunga, I can't believe you bothered to make a flowchart for that. Everyone knows that people who don't think of the obvious like changing keysets can't understand flowcharts!

AAHAHAH so true, so very true, so sadly true :P
but very nice flow charts BTW :tg
i think that the demand for these keyboards wont be great in the begining as i cannot see an averege user seeing a great deal of use in them. at least not at first... but i would really like one :D. would be so cool, great for games but lets face it, after a bit of practice at a game who cant find "WASD"? :P
still hella cool

what can you say about this keyboard, apart it is one of the best inovations that most of us have seen and can use very quickly....
just awesome...

i wouldve thought the demand would be huge (depending on price of course). just to have a sexy keyboard with stuff on it.

I don't know about you, but I don't want to get into a habit of finding my keyboard too sexy. :)

Im sure it wont belong before they add wireless to it, & once they sell a few in a year or two they'll be cheap as chips. To me this keyboard is better then sliced bread! imagine the possibilites!
Its funny how Microsoft make a few dozen different types of user friendly ergonomic keyboards & spend heaps on research & development yet someone else came up with this awesome (simple) idea of having the keys "change".

i agree with smitty, what have micorsoft been doing. so much potential, to come up with the ultimate of all ultimates yet they are not thinking outside the box!
Every Nerd will won't one, some nerds will even divorce there wives and kids for them, presuming that they have them in the first place. j/king
That's one fking awesome keyboard. So you can have winamp vis on em eh? does that mean you could watch video on em, like watching porn on your keyboard :P

... i reakon at the end of the day its still a keyboard... yes its fancy, yes its cool. But i dont think it will be very affordable, and as its been told, dont spend much time looking at my keyboard :)
Joshu
20-07-2005, 09:55 PM
I 100% agree with Non-Dairy. I don't look at my keyboard. I'd pay to get braille on my keyboard though, or to have one of those reconfigurable keyboards.

OR
I could put my keyboard in an oven and when it gets malleable I can mold it into a slightly convex, ergonomic shape with a heat-attached rubber backing.
Ergonomic keyboards, hahahaha

well it looks cool enough but i think a matching mouse that could do the same thing under your hand would be even better... hell i can imagine it now, keyboard and mouse doing some sort of winamp visualisation thing... you wouldn't wanna smoke to many and play Quake 3 in the vacinity of tripped out input devices... wouldn't want to fall over now!!! LOL :tg
