i want to get it, it looks pretty scweet, but i know that if i buy it i will play it ALOT, and would get nothing else done. BAD idea when your in year 12 :/
but i will prolly get it, it looks VERY nice and from what people have told me about it, and what i have read i think its worth the buy, i would get WoW but i just really dont like the idea of having on going costs, it sorta seems dodgy, if i buy a game i think that should be the end of it.
Poiter, you are welcome to rock up to my paddock to play it for afew hours n have a look see.
Arena dot net have done their best to remove apile of the grind, so peeps that can only play in 1 hour sittings can still hop on and get something meaningful done.
As for us, http://ladder.guildwars.com/ladder.dll?tag=aou ;)
I was gonna say I played it in the WoW post but I saw Mong get cut into pieces their so i started my own post.
Cut? Barely.... Making some good points? Truely
Theres Mong,Moo,Forest,Empathy, Rahx ,Dwarkarn,Broomy,Mongs Bro... and plenty more slowly WOW and other MMOs are dying out, and people are conveting to Guild Wars, because it has 1 Major thing going for it and thats no monthly Fee. :wave
Note: Rahx,Dwarkarn and Broomy are forum registererd peeps and is also Rahx is BKLAN Admin

all i can say to you Mong... is wrong... so very very wrong!
http://www.mmogchart.com/Chart1.html
note:  and i doubt guild wars would have anything like the numbers of games such as Lineage or even WoW for that matter. And when it comes down to it the numbers stand for what is classified as a better game :)
Um... Dairy.... Top line..... "MMOG Active subscriptions"... therefore Guildwars doesnt count in this line graph, being no monthly pay to play costs.
http://www.mmorpg.com/index.cfm has a little gaph piece at the side there, and has GW at 8.6 n WoW at 8.1. for user ratings, both have a 8.1 for reveiwer ratings.
Lineage:A game that was released a fair while ago and has a much larger fan base than wow, correct? I also note that there is a hell of alot of peeps that just buy every blizzard product that comes out (beats me why really).
"Guild wars, the game made by people who were fired from Blizzard :|"
list of peeps that work on GW: http://aou.ath.cx/forum/viewtopic.php?t=117
Mike O'Brien, Founder and Programmer, was also a company director of Blizzard,
Patrick Wyatt, Founder and Programmer, was previously Blizzard Entertainment's Vice President of Research and Development.
Jeff Strain, Founder and Programmer, was the team lead and lead programmer of Blizzard's massively multiplayer role-playing game, World of Warcraft.
Q: What made you decide to leave Blizzard and start a new company?
The three founders of Arena.net, Pat, Jeff, and myself, really enjoyed working together over the past four years at Blizzard. During that time, we watched Blizzard grow from a small company focused on a single game to a large company with many product teams. We eventually ended up as the leaders of three different product teams, and were disappointed that we were no longer able to work together. We also have been excited for a long time about the possibilities of online publishing. Starting Arena.net is the perfect opportunity for us to get back to a focused, small company environment, work closely together, and create our vision of the future of Internet gaming.

Not fired, left.
EDIT: That wasnt the preveiw button.
So far, every Thursday there is a 1 meg or so patch to adress minor problems people have reported using the /bug command, and major problems normally get fixed ASAP.
Ive found that in no matter what online game you play, there is always dumb tits in game. During the Beta weekends for GW, there was only very few (over 6 weekends, i think i saw 4 or 5). I think probably 5-10% of the peeps i see in GW are annoying.
I played some WoW briefly in the Beta, but i really didnt like the combat style, and spawn camping :(. 'Kill this critter'... once i manage to find said critter, wait (and hope) that out of the 50 peeps around the boss, i get the kill/drop. In GW, the zones are instanced (only your party in other words), drops are reserved by the game (stops Pickit like hacks).
I loved warcraft2, but with wc3 and the cartoon 3d engine, i really didnt enjoy it much.

you can tell what is a better game by the numbers comparing 2 of the same genre, there will always be a bunch of ppl calling it crap, but i think common sense would say "gee more have gone out a purchased/play game A more than game B, therefore it would be a better game"
Moo- I stand corrected ;)
Spot- Lets find out honey :D

hmmmm,
i still dont know how many ppl play GW compared to WoW and others because that http://www.mmorpg.com only gives a game Rating and doesn't say that more ppl are playing it. It would be good to find out tho. But if i had an income, better than 56k internet and had finished school then i think i would play subscription based MMORPG.

WoW is a more social game.
GW is a more competitive game.
I know this, and I've played neither. End of story.

EAT MORE GOAT!
The bottom line is that people have different preferences, on what kinda game they like. some people like Guildwars some like World of Warcraft and some like really poor mans games like Runescape.
i know someone who still plays Dark Age of Camelot and still loves it

rY*']at the end of the day... Elder scrolls games beats all... even tho they dont even have online!
Elder Scrolls was FKING Awesome, would of been rad on multiplayer, there was a mod i believe which started the idea, but they only got so far that they could see each other, but not see the other person moving just standing there, it was scraped. that was awhile ago though. it was an awesome game, neverthe less
