I have had a lot of requests (me, spot and emps) to do something with savage. What do you guys think of this game, any of you played it much?
It's quite fantastic, although some may see it as a little gimiky, it's actually rather a nice game. The gimik's in this case, add to the game play rather that detract. So let me know what you people think, cause I'm keen for some gameage!

Savage is one of the best games made in a while, problem is that you need at least 32 people to play it properly. And you need a commander that knows what the fuck he is doing.

Kaadu hit the nail on the fucking head right there with the commander call! I've been playing online, and the worst thing is when the other side is attcking with level 2 units and level 2 weapons, and your stuck sharpening fucking sticks and throwing rocks at them! It's by far the most frustrating part of the game, but it's also what makes it great. If you have a shit commander, your going down, OH SO QUICKLY!

LOL, hey wazza! Yes, the commander is like god, he tells units what do to, and when they get given orders, you get audio prompts like "move here", "attack this unit" or "stop killing the fucking NCP's and defend the base ya homo" for example:

Nah, it happens from time to time. You click on a spawn point, and ya can't spawn, so you have to change teams, then change back and ya fine, but ya lose all ya cash. The other one is that your on the spawn screen and ya can't get out of it, so you have to bring the console down and type reconnect. It's still a tad buggy, but I'm sure with patches in the future it will be fixed. I still had a ball playing it with so many people ;) It was joyus! Oh yes! :D

those things are way too big, i never had any probs with spawning, but thanxs for the heads up, ill keep an eye out for patches and stuff now!

It's only justified if the units on the ground don't listen to commands, mainly "FFS BASE BASE BASE, there is a dude killing all our tech building!" they the people on the ground are like... hmmm... And plus, how come people don't meleefight properly? It's as if they run up to a target and stand still and chop. If they were to actually FIGHT, Savage might be fun :p

yeah you can set different things in your savage server config that lets you run it as a dedicated server or as a playing server.
i was running both at lz, but most of the time it was a playing server.
it was the same game config for both, with the main bit being able to carry 100k in gold rather than 10k, which is gay.

Edit: Look! Demo recorder! now we can see just how the admins got the bloody behemoths out so quick.

-Decreased traffic usage by about 80%
-40+ player games are actually playable on a 56k modem, it's that efficient!


And a optimisation for low level systems
Major graphics optimizations
-Improves performance more than 2 fold on some systems
-Added "Fire Scale" setting that increases or decreases the burning building effect

The best tweak in the patch, my frames were quartered as soon as i saw the flames of a burning lair.
