Hey guys, anyone played Splinter Cell Chaos Theory? Sounds like a good game to have at the next lan, what say you? Talking Yoda I am like.

I say we're not, unless someone can detail the specifics of how we're going to get the multiplayer larger.

That's good editing if I ever heard it!
SWAT4's the go. Also, forget Savage cause it's old.

An over-the-top racing game, FlatOut features a unique all-encompassing physics engine that is set to define a new standard in racing games. With fully destructible driving environments, 40 deformable pieces on the cars and more than 3,000 items to smash, FlatOut is sure to bring carnage to unprecedented levels. Anything destroyed or altered stays a part of the race – broken fences, free rolling tires, and even mangled parts of cars are left scattered around the track, increasing the mayhem with every lap. Drivers will even be thrown from crashing cars! FlatOut lets players experience the drive of their life with 36 challenging tracks and 12 bonus events in one of 16 fully upgradeable cars. Mini-games maximize the fun, and include three destruction derby arenas, three head-on collision dirt tracks and six outrageous “Rag Doll Olympics” bonus games that utilize driver ejection to the fullest.

If it's got a destruction-derby mode, then I'm all for it. Especially if it's on the big screen. Robot Arena was awesome in that respect - a game which the final of can be played on the big screen, without spoiling anything tactics-wise for any players.

On the site there's your standard 50MB trailers and a 160MB demo. I'll check it out.

The trailer (which looks pretty awesome - of course it's probably gussied up, but it looks like there's fun to be had) advertises "8 player racing carnage over LAN" so there you go. It's a shame there can't be 32-player destruction derbys. I hope the game uses pixel shaders like it looks it does; if not, it's just a decent physics engine with a shitty game thrown on as an afterthought.

How the hell did you know I was thinking that?

Remember kids, don't play any racing game then go out and drive. Doubly so if you have songs from the game soundtrack in your CD player. Nerds.

yeah swat 4 is FUCKING AWESOME!! and it will no doubt be in the running as a comp.
plus Delta Force Xtreme (gay ass fkn title) just came out.
to describe it, it would be delta force 1 source.
basically the first (and best) delta force game redone in the JO/BHD engine with some tweaks such as veh's etc.

back in the day me kenny and wazza (sad tomato) used to play this for hours with just us 3 on a massive map,
waiting for someone to run out of ammo and run into a village while we try and snipe em.

ahhh memories.

also i have a thing to play guilty gear xx #r over lan so we may have to give that a go, i know george is keen and a few other guys there were playing it at x14.

What's with everything being XTREME!!!!!!!!!! now...? It's fucking annoying. Even my tube of tooth paste has xtreme written on it - how sad is that shit.

Tetrinet2

how about i grab a working 80gig drive from my pooter, throw it, and people place bets on if it lasts the rest of the LANs abuse my pc seems to receive...

disclaimer:
if it dies, I cry, and steal $50 of the bet money :p
if it does die, I'll give it to the highest bidder that bet it would live, so they had proof of just how much they suck at the betting game!

hmm, I think there the only 2 games I could be bothered playing, i think next lan will just be a ***** fest and socialize before sleep, and maybe a bit of Q3 if it gets played

Did the 'non gaming' comps happen at the last one? I want to see the peg idea come to life :)

Joshu

Yeah, nongaming comps are a must! Shame there were none last LAN. It's good to be made to get out.

Theres a game they play on AusNS radio where one of the hosts says something, and people have to make it within the duration of the show (Typically 30 mins). Its pretty fun and would be some good photoshop/paintshop/mspaint exercise, and they judge the winners on effort, originality, and humour.
