Review & Order - KOSS SB45

Ok guys, a while back we all suggested that you guys get yourselves some headphones with a mike, and put forward a few suggestions of what we would recommend. I personally thought the KOSS SB45's looked promising, so I ordered a pair from KOSS to test them out. Well, they arrived, and I can say I'm quite happy with them :tg

Pro's:

Good isolation, I can't even hear my missus telling me to stop wasting time playing computer games and to hang the washing out.
Nice sound, good bass.
Very clear mike, I mean, it does have "CVT" ;) (Clear Voice Technology) (Listen to MP3 (http://www.lanx.org.au/forum/attachment.php?attachment id=695&stc=1))
The are Collapsible so when going on the LAN trail they pack up nicely (See Here (http://www.lanx.org.au/forum/attachment.php?attachment id=694&stc=1))
There is an option case for them (See Here (http://www.lanx.org.au/forum/attachment.php?attachment id=696&stc=1))

No inline volume control, but with kb's having volume control, not really needed these days.
They cost $135 in Australia if you can get them, they're just out and sold out at most places.
Anyways, my order only took a couple of days to get here from the states, so to be safe orders close and money must be in by FRIDAY 1nd APRIL, I'm going to send the order on Monday next week, and they'll hopefully get here before LANX. We'll handle this the same way we did the clothing orders.

NOTE! Due to Jarrod pointing out the whole "customs" crap, I've done a bit of research and found THIS! (http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page.cfm?u=4376) Due to this crapness and crap, I've had to charge an extra $7.50 for postage as I'm going to have to order them in groups of 4 instead of 10 to stay under the custom limits for importing stuff thought a post office!


What does this mean to you? You can either say, bugger it and pay the extra $7.50 or cancel your order. I have split you into 5 group of 4, if one of the group decides to cancel, the other 3 members will have to pay $12, if 2 people cancel, the other 2 member will have to pay $22.50, if 3 cancel, the remaining person will have to pay $55! So if you cancel, there is going to be 3 people that hate you ;)


So it's up to you guys, at this stage, I don't care ;) I have my pair and I'm happy :p this has become to much of a hassle! For the guys that have already paid, and want to go ahead with the order, deposit the $7.50 using "username post" as the description (e.g. "kyzen post").

Ok, here's a few emails to explain why they're half of what you'd pay in Australia :)

It all started with Dave's famous Buy microphones! (http://www.lanx.org.au/forum/showthread.php?t=1149) thread! I have been meaning to get a new head set since the mike on my current pair (the gaylord LED ones (http://www.edimensional.com/product_info.php?currency =AUD&cPath=22&products_id=30)) died suddenly (god rest it's soul). I have been eyeing off the KOSS SB40's (click for price) (http://www.ozforcesshop.com/customer/product.php?productid=169 90) for a while, the only reason I was hesitant is because they have a dual entry cord (a cord from each ear) which I thought was poo :) That prompted me to check out the KOSS site to see what was available, and they had just brought out the SB45, the new model to most likely replace the ageing SB40. The SB45 is an all around more solid headset when you look at the stats :) (or compare your new SB45's to Delta-Forces SB40's ;) ).

Thus, Email #1 was born!

Ok my lovies, check the first post, it's been updated into 2 orders of 13, they have been ordered and should arrive by Friday (god and customs willing)! I played around with the figures for ages and found that there wasn't much difference between orderding in groups of 4 and paying HEAPS of postage and no import fee's, and ordering in a group of 13 paying a little postage and the customs import fee's. Dear people who ordered headphones... I'm over this :mad I've just been on the phone with customs and UPS for the last hour...

So there we were, in the clear, everything worked out to the cent, and I mean cent! I was expecting to pay $137.79 duty on one package, and 107.49 duty on the other... BUT NO!!! The FUCKING page with the FUCKING EXAMPLES didn't think it necessary to mention THIS! http://www.customs.gov.au/webdata/resources/files/Imports_charges0503.pdf (http://www.customs.gov.au/webdata/resources/files/Imports_charges0503.pdf) also know as the MAGICAL FUCKING BULLSHIT PDF, that in a nutshell means that there is an extra ~$50 for each package that doesn't appear until you want to actually get your items released!!! So $103.50 suddenly appears when they ring me and tell me they are in Australia... So, good news, ya headphones are here, bad news, they are stuck in customs and I'm not paying $103.50 for this magical recovery fucking fee our of my own pocket to get them out.
