My word yes; Green tea is the shit. I have made the swap from coffee to green tea and i recommend you all do the same! Especially those of you brave enough to attempt to enter the world of computer programming :O
Which reminds me, Darwinia is a fucking amazing and original game, and I highly recommend you download the demo at http://www.introversion.co.uk/ . If you like the game please consider buying it; Introversion are one of the very few small independant studios surviving and they deserve support. Being independant, they also get to make the games that they truly want to make, like many of us have dreamed, as aposed to being controlled and pulled into line by the massive corporations profiting from the mainstream gaming market.
Green tea ...

I thought i couldnt either .. I had what i would consider a serious habit. Green tea though, seems to fill that need in a similar but different way .. the mind effect is much more mild, but it still really helps you through the day in a similar way but without the stress on your system that coffee delivers

I've got some green tea in the cupboard, I'll attempt the bold move.
Also, I never played Uplink :/
Woah! Just realised I downloaded Darwina and forgot about it, only because I heard such great things about Uplink :D
radass
20-03-2005, 04:04 PM
They're both great games
Uplink is fun, and you can get into it for a while. Darwinia is a work of art imho.
and kudos on the green tea :)

I've downloaded GetRight now... I feel dirty. :(

how weird
must be a dialup thing
Uplink is a good game its pretty old now, ive got tons of mods and skins, when i used to play i set up dual monitors (SWORDFISH STYLE) and it works great, but it gets old fast, its still installed on my pc, if you want to look at some great mods and such Here (http://www.modlink.net)
Joshu
20-03-2005, 06:56 PM
Dialup is shitty and I won't have to worry about it soon.
I really like Darwinia, it's nice, but it feels incomplete. The demo didn't properly outline what I _didn't_ get to see (ie, give teasing screenshots, a la old shareware games) which is shitty. Oh well.

the demo feels a bit that way, the full version puts a bit of context into it and adds some REALLY interesting intro screens that change each time you load it !
Plus a predictable but cool visualisation of the internet
the demo shows the raw mechanics, but yeah, full version fleshes it out a bit.

shame on you.
I use IDM for downloads, not the built in junk, had many problems with stalled downloads, both on dialup and adsl

White tea would be nice, it tastes sweet and contains more antioxidants than green tea, but costs $10/100g :(

Darwinia is insane. It took me ages (and some looking online :() to figure out the box kites thing though.
I'm still adamant that they should've put previews into the game telling what one could expect in the full version. All I can tell from the manual is that you can't get armor in the demo.
radass
21-03-2005, 12:47 PM
yeah the special buildings need darwinians to run them
i'm just about to do that mine level in the full version
lol the graphics are sweet as

Darwinian v3.0 is pretty powerful. Fear my Darwinians, purveyors of anti-virus doooooooom! :)
This battle actually ended with around 5 Darwinians alive, and no virii. Shame they couldn't kill the spider and sporelayer.
Mong, think before you post please.
radass
21-03-2005, 01:43 PM
crazy, i only just got v2 darwinians
i'm all about squad size and grenades though :) nothign better than lobbing 5 grenades at a spider and scooting off :D
how good a co-op game would this be
just checked i actually do have v3 darwinians :D just havent used em in combat yet
hanging OUT to get the airstike from the demo ..
Joshu
21-03-2005, 01:49 PM
I'm all about the airstrikes. Laggy, but powerful.
In the demo, you start with Darwinian v2.0 and upgrade to v3.0 roughly when you capture the second incubator. They fires the lasers :) Have you seen them having a ceremony for a lost Darwinian? THAT'S fucking crazy.

That's not the problem, I'd stick the URL into img tags and it'd not work. Swear to God that Dave's up to something shifty with that.:(

edit: awesome mudgie :)
the actual problem i think is with vb's handling of img tags, it doesnt deal with %20 -- needs spaces.
ah wtf, your one at the top has %20
hmm odd

Does anyone else have issues with games taking over their minds?
If I play The Sims for too long, I'd start doing menial tasks and it'd feel slow and I'd try to speed everything up.
If I play with audio editing stuff for too long, I start hearing funny noises.
If I play this wretched game, I start trying to create squads in Firefox (mouse gestures extension), and bring up engineers when I've loaded a page to collect the souls from the last one.

Do you frantically airstrike when you see one of moo's posts ? :D
I used to have a real problem with seeing Tetris in real life after a big session, and i'd kinda daydream away for a 1 min here and there, playing it in my mind
Actually i think i had minor zero hour issues at the time too .. I build for China!
Joshu

The "rocker action" in mouse gestures (hold right-click, then left-click ; aka "fire secondary weapon") makes the browser go back. Many a time I have fired grenades into random posts only to find my browser loading the LANX main site.
Of course, after learning to avoid that problem, I forget to use grenades(etc) in the game :(
