alright

all you whinging fags who say doom was too dark and predictable etc etc, you have really REALLY missed the point, and denied yourself and awesome game experience.

I'm willing to bet 99% of you that say that played the game on easy or normal. well, what the fuck did you expect ? those settings are meant for people who have never played games before, or kids. remember how boring original doom got after you looked up the cheats ?

Play the game on hard. suddenly, it's about survival, because each time you fuck up, you get PWNED and have next to no health. THEN you feel scared, and it's just constantly tense. and because you have to move slowly, you actually notice all the subtleties of the game world .. all the awesome audio and atmosphere. THIS is what the game is about , playing at night with headphones, 15 health, and totally shitting yourself

the experience of doom 3 can only really be felt when playing as dave mentions. the amount of times i have had to stop, go for a walk around the room to regain my composure and then get back into the world of doom while playing it on hard, fuck, its quite possibly one of the most intense games ive ever played.

think about the concept of the game. its more horror than action. its more exorcist than die hard. people overlook the concepts behind games and movies so often and they rely on their 'skill' to babysit them and guide them through games/movies without ever having to truly get into them.

doom 3 is one of the finest games i have ever played and one of few that sticks closely to its concept and its intial purpose. and that is, to scare you. to make you take your time and hear, see and almost feel the world you are in.

when i went toe to toe with the first Mancubus on hard... i swear i almost cried! 3 hours later i got around him.

it truely was a game worth a purchase if just for the value of owning an origenal of a Doom game... i was sadly depraved of an origenal of any other Doom, but i got all the Quakes! includeing the origenal Quake in the folding cardboard case ;)

Edit: ive come back to this Beut.... damn multi is intense! and hearing that awesome menu music makes it all worth while!

Now im gonna go get my Doom3 poster block mounted in the moring :woot

Personally i think the game was crap honestly what the hell did it have to offer????

the story was shit, the weapons were shit, the monsters were shit. Graphics don't count by the way, u don;t play a game just because it has good graphics, i tried that an it didnt work.

reminds me a bit like farcry, which i think is superior because of slightly (ever so) better weapons in my opinion, shit weapons shit story shit enemies shit game.

another piont multiplayer is not looked at in this gamers review. ;)

I wouldn't say it's a shit game, just not that great. It's very, very predictable, and the lack of variety gets repetative. I guess, like always, the hype made for disapointment. And the graphics... The parts where I could actually see were great!

Certainly better than most, but not the best.

Besides, if any company was deserving of fanbois, it's id. They brought themselves into existance through blood sweat and tears and singlehandedly turned the pc into a serious gaming platform, not to mention having raised the bar on realtime 3d graphics a number of times

and blade: what difficulty did you play doom 3 on .. ? I never said it's the best game ever .. but it's certainly unlike any other gaming experience if you play it the way it should be played

I reckon awesome graphics do make a game better. Obviously they can't stand on their own but why the hell wouldn't you want them? The way Doom3 looked was closely tied to how it felt to play it IMO. I played it all the way through on medium which for me is a ringing endorsement. :)

I like graphics and stuff though, others may not as much.

graphics dont make a game, but they enhance the gameing experience. just look at old school console games, they look shithouse but are fun as hell.

doom 3 IMO was shitty, it was too predictable and i got sick of it after a a few hours. (i probably spent more time playing super turbo turkey puncher than the actual game :D)

As for Doom3 i only played it for like hmm 2 hours cause i shitted my pants in a dark room with my dads 7.1 speaker surround sound, it was freaky, i was more crazed by the engine the modding potential is great. and lookign forward to seeing full modifications.

Hahaha I was right into the game at normal difficulty dave absolutly loved it, you would hear the occassional chaotic "FUCKIN CUNT SUNOVA BITCH" phrase at 3 in the morning :)

But putting that aside ^^ I wouldnt worry about it too much, there are 3 types of ppl in this world the cry babies, the omg I'm crap at this game so I'll bag it and those who own them both :D
