Due to the awesome success of the 10 man teams at X13 we have decided to carry this idea on, and make it permanent.

The way we will run X's from now on is going to be similar to X13, using Friday for a novelty comp, getting machines ready, all games patched working etc, Saturday will be 3 comps of whatever games you vote for (looking at new voting system, to either be done on Friday, or when you book), then Sunday will be the old school comp and chill out time :)

We would also like to see the formation of Clan's, it makes the event a whole lot easier to run when you guys organise yourselves and have a Clan leader to ask us questions and make sure you're all ready for the comps on time.

We're not going to force you into Clan's, but we will entice you! As of X14 Clan points are going to start to be tallied, at the end of the year we will have something special for the winning Clan.

A few rules for the clans:
Minimum 10 Members
Maximum 15 Members (10 + 5 Subs)
1 Captain
1 Vice Captain

We will take registrations as soon as we're able, we can also set up Clan site hosting (LANX sub-domain i.e. "winnaz.lanx.org.au", and a forum (LANX sub forum) for each of the registered Clans. I'll make another news post when we are ready to start registering clans, if you're not in a Clan by X14, don't worry, we'll create one out there with the other free agents :)

Hopefully before X14 we will have a new LANX site with new functionality and be able to organise the Clan aspect properly, also have a Clan ladder after X14 on the front page, showing how awesome your Clan is, and linking to your clans homepage :)

Don't worry if you're coming to your first LANX you won't miss out on playing in the comps, we will put you with a Clan as a sub, from there you can talk to them about becoming a permanent member.

Much more to come, so stay tuned, I know I've missed some stuff, will be added as it comes back to me!

If you have any questions or suggestion, post them in this thread!

Cheers guys, keep post relevant to the topic!

The LANX Team!

I think that's a great idea, it worked perfectly the last time. There wasn't any fucking around madly at the start of the comps !

i thinks its an awesome idea. there won't be many clans though, maybe 5 at the most. unless you made lanx like 200 poele, which would be awesome.

and would you make different seating arangements so clans can be seated together?

Yes! I'm looking into some awesome clan management for vB, I'm on the case beyotch! Also we are looking at increasing the size of X, we're booking out consistantly, time for a change! The best thing is CherryPopper won't be able to say "I'm the biggest and the awesomest", even though we know better ;)

The clan seating one is a tricky one actually

we might need to make more use of and extend the reservation facility for a certain period of time after booking opens, so that clans with their shit together can sit together

Another thing we can start doing is running a teamspeak server with different channels for the all the clans and a general chat channel too

actually, something on my 'todo' list is a to write my own teamspeak/ventrillo type program that totally whoops them

for example, admins should be able to broadcast to all people on a server if needed, to make announcements and stuff

i doubt it'd be that hard to write a better one .. teamspeak and ventrillo are a bit hacky imo

teams of 10 are pretty massive - most "clan" matches are of 6 players cause 12 players in a game is the ideal number usually.

For you maybe... poof :) But you would have to be playing elimination to get through that many matches. We play double emimination, more rounds = more time, if we had more than say 8 teams, it would take way to long to get through, hence 10 player teams ;)

ahhh fair enough :D what games you usually have as your team games? cod? joint ops? the "bigger" games i'm assuming.
