Beta Testers needed for hot new game !

ok it's not really a real game

just a shitty thing i'm making for fun. You cant even hurt each other yet :D At the moment it's the networking engine i'm focusing on, so the graphics are functional only.

What i really need, is someone with some decent upload bandwidth 1Mb+ (cable?) to run a test server, and a few people to run the client and join and run around and shoot some rockets

Anyone interested ?

Well due to my last incident im only on 128k upload and my upload is capped at 10gig

Why don't you use the VicLAN server?
or, the FundamentalIT server?

If it's because it's Win32-based, why not vmware it?

vmware soaks too much cpu sadly .. plus it's pretty smasmodic timing wise. We might get a win32 server though one of these days. But not soon enough :(

I've got 256Kbps up which would be fine for a normal load but i want to test it with a bunch of players and about 2000 unpredictable drunk rockets

running more than one client on the same machine as the server casuses it to start missing game ticks ...

Kenny just informed me that ncable has uncapped uploads, so i recon your connection is worth a go dominatrix, i'll pm you, cheers !

Anyone keen on joining in is most welcome, hopefully can schedule this first test (or series of tests) for some time tommorow. When the time comes i'll post the current client here.

I gotta reiterate that this 'game' is in no way fun to play .. yet :D

You'd be surprised what people can make fun out of these days... get enough people on the server and they'll practise forming phrases or famous images with their dead (or still alive, if they can't die thanks to a godlike gift of no-damage-code-yet) bodies.

I prob wont realease a version tonight (at least, not for a few hours) as i'm in the middle of some pretty major changes. Soon though .. I definately need to have tested this thing online with some players by Friday morning
